The Hall of Shame

Musoc.org's Hall of Shame is a roll call, updated as required, of Class(ical) Traitors — institutions and individuals whose public words, actions or behaviour debase art music in the name of populism, philistinism or just plain lucre.

If you'd like to help root out the quislings by nominating (anonymously unless requested) an organisation or individual, whether for a particular instance or for a more general attitude, please email the gro.cosum@emahsfollah with as much incriminating evidence as you can, ideally in the form of an indictment (of any length; see the Archive for examples), so that your nomination can be validated.

Nominations can include broadcasters, presenters, composers, musicians, orchestras, critics, academics, arts boards/councils, promoters, politicians etc from anywhere in the world. If circumstances warrant it, an individual or organisation may be repeatedly 'commemorated'.

NB: The Hall of Shame was suspended between February and September 2011.

Class(ical) Traitor of the Month

October 2011 Class.Traitor BBC Radio 3 Breakfast Show

Class.Traitor of the Month for October is BBC Radio 3's cretinous new Breakfast Show, fronted by Sara More Pitch and DJ* Petroc 'Squire' Trelawny (*Dire, Jejune). By popular demand.

January 2011 Class.Traitor BBC Radio 3 Controller Roger Wright

Indictment

Class.Traitor of the Month for January is BBC Radio 3 Controller Roger Wright, both for inflicting the gruesome 'Play Mozart For Me' on Radio 3 listeners - nine times, let alone once - and for bare-facedly claiming (e.g. in his Monthly Note), in spite of massive evidence to the contrary, that "there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to [The Genius of Mozart]" - almost the exact words he used to describe Radio 3's J S Bach immersion in 2005 - for which he also receives a special Pinocchio Award.

"Our view is that with Mozart end to end, the overall effect would be detrimental to the music." - Roger Wright, Daily Telegraph, 2005.
